Why Rivian Cabins Run Hot
The R1S has one of the largest glass areas of any SUV on the road: a full-length panoramic roof, tall side windows and a big windshield. The R1T is not far behind, and the R2 carries the same fixed glass roof over a smaller cabin. Factory glass blocks some UV but very little infrared heat, so a Rivian parked at the office or the trailhead comes back with a hot cabin and a climate system working hard to catch up, which costs range.

North Carolina Tint Law for Rivians
The R1T, R1S and R2 are classified as multipurpose vehicles in North Carolina: at least 35% VLT on the front side windows, no restriction behind the driver. Windshield film must stay above the AS-1 line or the top five inches, whichever is longer, unless it is clear. We will confirm a shade that keeps you legal and comfortable.
